The stakes

Small gaps can become big problems

It's public

Inspection results and violations can become part of the public record — visible to customers, employees, and anyone searching for your restaurant.

It costs you time and money

Re-inspections, corrective actions, wasted food, and staff time can quickly add up.

The problems are easy to miss

A cooler that drifts overnight. An expired certification. A missed temperature check. A product that wasn't properly rotated.

An inspection is a snapshot. Food safety is every day.

The gaps that matter most can happen between inspections.

county-health.gov › inspections PLACARD Cold holding — food above 41°F MAJOR No certified manager on site MAJOR Handwashing sink obstructed MINOR Public record · searchable · stays online after the fix

The goal isn't just to pass the next inspection. It's to know what's happening every day.

Client Testimonials

Live in real kitchens - in their words.

ChefAlert runs today in working restaurant kitchens, monitoring temperatures, printing labels, and tracking compliance across real shifts. Here's what operators say.

“
“ChefAlert has caught several cooler and freezer failures in time for us to save the product. Our daily walkthroughs are photo-verified now, so when one shows as done, I know it was done. And I can see compliance across every store in one place.”
Raj Singh District Manager, The Melt
“
“Food Labeling got so easy that our staff actually does it. ChefAlert also caught our expiring food handler certificates and a walk-in failure before either one turned into a problem.”
Ravi MathurGeneral Manager, Huckleberry's Breakfast and Brunch

About

I ran compliance where a miss meant a recall.

Before ChefAlert I ran the data systems behind a $1.5B FDA-regulated medical device division. An FDA auditor goes through a division the way a health inspector goes through a kitchen — except the downside isn't a placard, it's a recall. Six audits of my division, zero findings.

That work teaches one discipline: build the record so it survives an auditor who assumes you're wrong. Captured at the source. Timestamped. Not editable after the fact. Exportable for any date range in under a minute. ChefAlert is that same record, built for a walk-in cooler and a health inspector instead of an implant line.

Not a prototype. ChefAlert is running in real kitchens today — The Melt and Huckleberry's.

Questions

Before you request a demo.

The questions ops and QA leaders ask most, answered plainly.

Your records stop being self-reported.Temperatures log themselves, at a frequency you define. Walkthroughs are photo-verified and time-stamped to the person who did them. Labels print with the real prep time, a calculated use-by date, and the name of whoever printed them. No more day dots. Documents warn you before they expire. The practical difference shows up on inspection day. You hand over a record with a timestamp on every entry, instead of a binder of handwritten logs where a diligent operator and a careless one look exactly the same on paper.

We do all of it. ChefAlert professional services mounts the hardware — temperature sensors, gateway, kiosks and label printers — and does the configuration: manager and staff profiles, your food item list with shelf lives, your walkthrough checklists, and your document vault. We train your managers on site the same day. Staff training on the kiosk takes about ten minutes, because there is very little to learn. Tap, done. The one thing we need from you is your IT team to provision Wi-Fi access for the gateway.

About two hours per location — sensors mounted, gateway online, items and checklists loaded, managers trained. A store that opens at 11 is live for the dinner shift. The only thing that slows that down is site network access, so we confirm it with your IT team before we arrive rather than discovering it on the day. For a multi-location rollout, we give you a location-by-location rollout plan before we start.

Yes, and access is scoped by role. Executives get a compliance score for every location on one dashboard, and can drill into any store to see exactly what is dragging the score down: which cooler is drifting, who is missing a food handler card, which documents have expired, and which documents or food items are about to. Managers see only the locations they are responsible for.

Pricing is per location. You can buy or rent the hardware. If you buy: a one-time hardware and installation cost, then a monthly subscription. Setup, configuration and training are included, with no separate onboarding fee. If you rent: one flat monthly fee, with no upfront hardware or installation cost. If any hardware fails, we replace it at no cost for either the part or the labor. We will quote your exact number once we know your cooler count and location count.

Yes, and most chains do. Start with a pilot at one or two stores for 30 to 60 days — long enough to run through a real inspection cycle. We install, you operate it normally, and we review together what it caught before you decide anything about the rest of your estate. Pilot hardware moves with you into the rollout, so nothing is wasted if you expand.

High turnover and busy shifts are exactly why we built the system to be this simple. There is no app to install, and no food items or shelf lives for anyone to memorize. The walkthrough checklist tells a new employee what to do, so their first shift does not depend on catching someone who has time to train them. The same process runs in every store, so when an employee transfers, they already know how to use it.

ChefAlert is live in working kitchens today. We will put you in touch with a reference before you commit to a rollout.

You set who is alerted. For all critical alerts like a failing refrigerator, if the first person does not acknowledge within the window you choose, the alert escalates to the next person on the list, so nothing depends on one person.

Stop worrying about compliance. Start running your restaurant.
